For almost 40 years, I have practiced law and helped clients deal with disagreements and conflict. Nearly everyone would agree that separation and divorce are among the most difficult and stressful situations people face both individually and as a family. Whether the family unit is made up of two adults or includes children, divorce and separation presents challenges and choices that will affect everyone involved for the rest of their lives. Husbands, wives, mothers and fathers, partners, sons and daughters, not to mention grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and employers all participate to some degree in the changes that occur when couples separate and divorce.
It’s no wonder that the problems presented are many and often overwhelming. Divorce mediation is a process designed to help you define issues and discover options that work for you. My role is to be your guide through the process that will give you the power to choose solutions for equitable distribution, child support, parenting arrangements and other questions you may face. At the end of the mediation process, I will prepare a Memorandum of Understanding that will clearly state the decisions that you agreed on. If you choose, as a New York attorney at law you can retain me to draft any necessary legal agreements or filings. Or, you can bring the Memorandum of Understanding to another attorney, the choice is yours.
